There are many amenities in the area that you can enjoy. The house allows the Vermont Association of Snowmobile Trails (VAST) go though the land, so if you snowmobile you are right there on the trails. You can obtain a VAST sticker just minutes down the road. Rentals are available in St. Johnsbury or Island Pond.

There is plenty of land and plenty of trails around the house where you could hike, cross country ski, snowshoe, or just take in nature. Jay Peak is 20-25 minutes away and has 78 trails for skiing; they also offer lessons for adults and children for skiing or snowboarding. Jay Peak gets more snow than any other mountain in Vermont. There is also an 18 hole golf course. Vermont offers dog sled tours and sleigh rides. Ice fishing is also available on the lake.

In Newport City, there is an outside skating rink you can use for no charge with skate rental available if you need them. Newport City has many quaint stores and restaurants. If you want to go to the movies or bowling, just go downtown. There is also a Shaw’s and Price Chopper in Derby and a Friendly Market in Newport City.
